History of St Alban's Church
St. Alban's Church
A church has existed in Tattenhall since 1300AD and without doubt on this same site since the early years of the sixteenth century. The tower is the only part of the current building that dates back to that time; the rest of the building - ‘having fallen into great decay’ - was demolished and rebuilt in 1869-70. The present building, the work of John Douglas, is notable for its scale and proportion. It is a building to be enjoyed not only by regular churchgoers but others; those who wish to use it for important occasions such as weddings or funerals, by local residents who want to preserve a part of their local heritage, by people who have moved away from the area but remain interested and by people who want a special setting for an art exhibition or a musical concert.
